Gold Leaf Part2 ・ 金箔押しその２＆シュトレンアップしました

This morning, I blogged about how I am into 24K gold leaf and my way of pass-time is to visit temples and shrines admiring its beauty and techniques. (Blog on Golld Leaf Part 1)

It was through the work-shop held by Master Fujisawa, the gold-leaf artisan, whom I have met for the first time. I could actually experienced the gold leaf decoration technique, turning plastic earnings into gold ones !

24K gold leaf is covering earnings. We then polish. 

These are the only two shots from the entire process but many others process are in between. A full day oｆ work shop was just enough to savoir the taste and it was more than enough for me. (sweating !)

After the work-shop, we discussed about how the artisan social circle shifted. Until very recently, they didn't come to the front line. They always had a someone contacted clients on behalf. And clients are only those relating with Temples and shrines. So if it were 50 years ago, having a work-shop or decorating accessories were no go !

But the time is shifted and now artisans are in liberal environment. Like Master Fujisawa, who established his career as gold-leaf artisans, he is willing to apply his skills on new area. He mentioned his area of business are expanding to arts and home interiors. "Is there anything you can't apply gold-leaf ? Any kind of materials ?"  I asked by curiosity. "Anything solid, I can do. Like woods, plastic, iron etc. Soft material like tissue, paper are different techniques so I don't do them."
That means we can apply gold-leaf pretty much everything !

今朝のブログの続き、『金箔押し　その２』　です。箔押し師、藤澤典史さんの紹介文になっています。

そうそう、最近英語でブログを書き始めたので、『ブログを読みながら、英語の勉強させます～』　って学生のお子さんのお持ちの友人からコメントもらいましたが、、、これ、多分、私のブログを娘さんに読ませてるって事だと思うけど、大丈夫かな。全く対訳になっていないので、そのあたりお気をつけ下さいね。（笑）

シュトレン販売開始です！

空欄になっていた、シュトレンの写真、お値段、大きさなどの情報をHPに更新しました。

ドライフルーツが小麦より多い配合になっているので、プライスもそれなりにするとは予想していましたが、、、大台乗ってしまいました。まさかの1万円越え。（汗）

試作を繰り返している課程で、ドライフルーツは有機でなくてもいいかな、とも思ったのですが、食べ比べると違いがわかっちゃうのですよ。バターもね。たくさん使うから、あすなろさんじゃないバターでトライして浮気しかけたのですが、たくさん使うからこそ、違いがわかるんですね。ちょっと迷ったけど、世の中に、一件ぐらい有機フルーツや白い砂糖不使用で作ったシュトレンを売る店があってもいいのかな、と思いなおしました。なので、カノエのコンセプトにのっとり、シュトレンも例外なく有機材料メインです。白いお砂糖も不使用。

ただ、通常、シュトレンが長持ちするのは、周りをバターとお砂糖でコーティングしているからなので、砂糖なし、という訳にはいきません。たくさん使っても、えぐくならない砂糖といえば、個人的にはメープルシュガーが一番美味しいと思っています。メープルシロップを専門に扱う業者さんの中に、奇跡的に粒の細かいメープルシュガーが見つかって、きちんとコーティングできました。商品化できてほっとしています。暖房のかかっていない涼しいお部屋で保存いただければ、2週間はゆうに持ちます。（我が家は木造建築。暖房をほぼかけない北向きのお部屋で保存して、一ヶ月は大丈夫です。でも消費期限のオフィシャルな記載は2週間とさせて頂きますね。）

Glittering season has come！

Christians aren't the most major population in Japanese but we are accustomed to see Christmas decorations this time of year. OK, it is more of commercial reasons but hey, it doesn't matter. It is festive. It is gorgeous.  I love it !

Now it got me thinking.... Do we have anything like this shinning decoration in Japan ?

When I was in Lyon, one of the memorable pictures are like this. ↓ It was my first trip to Europe.

Everywhere I looked the scenery was pictorial and the monuments are classy but I do remember this vividly.

The ceiling was shinning gold and I was wondering how many semesters would be paid off if I could scrape a bit of gold from ceiling ! (Yes, I was a young student living off student load.)

In Japan, we have shrines and temples.  We use a gold leaf to decorate.

So light that we need to hold breath !

A paper thin square gold (as tiny as 11cm x 11cm) is used to cover wood architectural temples, shrines and castles. With a skilled touch of fine artisans, woods architects are turned into shining gold.

We have gold decorations all year around, as festive as Christmas ones !

Why am I so hooked into Gold Leaf ? Well, with a bit of luck, I recently came to know one of the top artisan personally. How I got to know him? I will continue on the next blog.

Today, we finally started on December... The count down has started as well. We shall fully enjoy the last month of 2016. 

今日から12月！　ことしも残すところ一ヶ月ですね。クリスマスのデコレーション、イルミネーションで華やいだ大好きな季節。でも、日本には負けず劣らず、美しい飾りがあるではないか、しかも通年、と最近になって再認識する出来事がありました。

そう、寺社仏閣に施された金の箔。　カトリックのきらびやかな教会とはまた違った美しさ。日本人のテイストというのか、日本流の　“きらびやかさ”　の加減なのでしょうか。

私の金箔マイブームには理由があって、、、。ちょっとしたご縁で、本物の箔押し職人さんと知り合うきっかけがありました。（本物、、、っていうのも変な表現だけど。有名どころの寺社仏閣は、ほとんど手掛けらている、一流の職人さん、と言う意味です。　）

その職人さんの元で箔押しの体験をさせていただき、そこからのご縁で、個人的に箔押しをお願いしたりなどの経緯があって、とても素敵な経験をさせて頂きました。だから、もっとたくさんの人に金箔押しの美しさ、素晴らしさを知って欲しいと願っています。　

と、長々綴ってしまいましたが、『他に語るあるだろっっ』、とシュトレンを予約してくれた旧友からメッセきそう。（オロオロ）
